Some discs may have a small "cut-out" mark, drill hole or saw-cut through their plastic jewel case, booklet/cover and/or back insert. This was done by manufacturers to show they were deleted from their catalogs - (C/O). ABOUT COMPACT DISCS Digital Compact Discs were first introduced in U.S. March l983 by CBS Records/Sony Corporation - (16 Titles!) Most of the other major Record Companies followed in later l983 to mid-l984. [All early CDs were manufactured in Japan or West Germany for the U.S. Record Companies, as the U.S. had no CD manufacturing plants in the beginning!] As with all new formats, they took awhile to catch on and did not sell in any large amount for the first several years! Most early titles were only produced in very small quantities and many were deleted and not produced again before Compact Discs caught on! One misconception that many people have , is that almost everything that was made on an LP or Tape was issued on a Compact Disc. This is absolutely not true! Many titles on LP & Tape were not also issued on a CD - and may never be! Many early CD Titles have been long Out of Print. (This also includes many later popular titles.) [Companies do not like to keep titles in their catalogs that are not selling well!] Please keep in mind that many early Compact Discs are VERY RARE and Extremely Hard-to-Come by! ABOUT DIGITAL VIDEO DISCS Digital Video Discs were first introduced in U.S. March 1997. Warner Bros.Video & MGM Video were the first to ("test") market them in 7 select U.S. Cities. Initial titles were "Twister", "The Mask" and "Bonnie & Clyde". In August 1997 Warner Home Video went national with DVDs, putting them in nearly every major home entertainment retail chain. Most other Video Companies followed late '97-'98.
